RUSS KOESTERICH, is Global Chief Investment Strategist at iShares as well as the Global Head of Investment Strategy for BlackRock Scientific Active Equities.

Russ initially joined the firm (originally Barclays Global Investors) in 2005 as a Senior Portfolio Manager in the US Market Neutral Group. Russ began his career at Instinet in New York, where he occupied several positions in research, including Director of Investment Strategy for both US and European research. In addition, Russ served as Chief North American Strategist for State Street Bank in Boston. Russ holds a JD from Boston College Law School, an MBA from Columbia Business School. He is also a frequent contributor to the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Associated Press, as well as CNBC, Fox Business, and Bloomberg Television. In 2008, Russ published The ETF Strategist focusing on using exchange traded funds to manage risk and return within a portfolio. In The Ten Trillion Dollar Gamble, he explores the likely impact of the US deficit on the investment landscape.

Koesterich says an economic calamity is already looming on the horizon, and it's going hit the U.S. on a scale equal to the recent mortgage meltdown and liquidity crisis of 2008-2009. In February, President Obama announced that the 2010 budget deficit would surpass $1.5 trillion, an amount greater than the total debt of our nation in its first 200 years of its existence. And things only get worse from here: between 2010 and 2019, America will add one trillion of additional debt every year.

Russ Koesterich, who manages over $100 billion for one of the world's largest money management companies, predicts and provides his arguments supporting his prediction that the global economy is on the verge of more, even greater upheaval and provides his unique insight into The structural weaknesses underlying the economic meltdown; Why commodities will be so important in the next economic climate; Likely ramifications to the real estate market; The best stocks to buy and which ones to avoid.

The Drucker Business Forum is produced by The Peter F. Drucker and Masatoshi Ito Graduate School of Management at Claremont Graduate University. The series is co-presented by KPCC.
